Northwestern Legal Services is primarily funded by federal and state grants, including those from the Legal Services Corporation, Pennsylvania Legal Aid Network, Title XX, the Interest on Lawyers' Trust Accounts, Disability Advocacy Program, and the Access to Justice Act. These funds are restricted and can only be used for casework.
To expand our outreach, we are actively fundraising for unrestricted funds. These funds will enable us to increase our impact and reach more individuals in need!
We are grateful for private donations. NWLS is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation and charitable organization registered in Pennsylvania. Our PA registration number is 0013977.
Housing affordability is at a record low, with many tenants and homeowners being unaware of their rights. This can lead to homelessness or displacement to overcrowded shelters. Too often, people are not aware that we can help them and do not seek out our services, or they contact us too late. Your donations allow us to do more community outreach to raise awareness about our services, educate tenants about their rights, and keep more families in their homes and off the streets. NWLS provides free phone advice, community outreach, and even direct representation for a wide range of housing issues, including:
Education and outreach are crucial to ensuring families know when and how to reach us in time to assist them. When you donate to NWLS, you help us reach those most in need in our community. And that makes our community a better place for everyone to live in.
These events provide an excellent opportunity to maximize your support of local nonprofits through community-driven fundraising efforts.
Many thanks to our donors for your contributions! Your generosity enables us to reach more northwestern Pennsylvanians in need of civil legal services.
