| “Pristup Pravu” is
a Bosnian translation of the phrase “Access to Justice,” the
title of the NWLS television series broadcast each week on
Erie Community Access Television, Channel 2, in the city of
Erie. NWLS received a special project grant from the
Pennsylvania Interest on Lawyers Trust Account (IOLTA) to
make some shows available in Spanish, Russian and Bosnian
for people with limited English proficiency. Working closely
with translators and program staff from the
Hispanic-American Council of Erie and the International
Institute, we produced these foreign-language versions of
our regular television shows on topics such as Supplemental
Security Income. We also posted the transcripts of the
shows, in English and the other languages, on our Web site
in order to facilitate information sharing for people who do
not speak English as their native tongue. These programs are
another way that NWLS provides community legal education to
our region. |
