| An important part
of the Pennsylvania Public Benefits Project is helping
clients acquire the tools to become economically
self-sufficient. For a client receiving Temporary Aid to
Needy Families (TANF), the law allows a 24-month
postponement of work requirements if the TANF recipient is
involved in an educational program that will help them
acquire job skills. “We have been working with clients to
postpone the work requirements while they are in school. This gives them an opportunity to complete either an
associate or technical degree program, or to get a couple of
years of college finished before they have to find a job and
go to school and take care of their family,” explained
Jeannine Lawton-Knepper, NWLS public benefits specialist. |
