| A woman was
referred to a NWLS office for help with a Protection from
Abuse (PFA) order. She and her five children had fled her
marital home in another state because of longstanding and
severe physical, emotional and sexual abuse of her and her
children that led to her two oldest children being
institutionalized for psychiatric care. Our client’s PFA was
due to expire in February 2004. Her husband had numerous
violations of the “no contact” order in the original PFA,
and he expressed his intention to resume contact with his
children when the order expired. A Blossom Project attorney
represented our client in her successful motion to renew the PFA order for an additional six months, time that she used
to begin divorce proceedings. |
